7 Things To Do While Social Distancing
7 Things To Do While Social Distancing
While the Ohio mandate to wear a mask and maintain practicing social distancing is still in effect, how can we pass the time? I’m sure we have all baked our banana bread, watched everything on Netflix, took countless walks and maybe even poured ourselves a drink.. Or 2…
Are you still working from home? What’s left and how can we stay busy?
Be Productive
If you’re feeling bored or frustrated with how this quarantine is going, now is the time to do all the things you’ve been putting off! Keeping yourself busy will help pass the time. Whether that means finally getting around the scrubbing the floorboards, cleaning out the garage or doing some yard work – think about all the things you’ve been neglecting to do because you were too busy.
Exercise / Stay Moving
I’m sure we have all tried those at-home workouts we found on YouTube, but don’t just stop there! Find a new park you haven’t been to and explore! Go on a hike through Whipps Ledges or any of the Metroparks. Pick up Yoga or Pilates. Take your dog out for a walk! Whatever you choose, just keep moving.
Reconnect With Friends and Family
Thanks to the Internet, Facetime, Zoom etc., there are countless ways to reconnect with some old friends or busy family members. Take the time to send them a text or give them a call. I have seen so many people having virtual parties – baby showers, bridal showers, graduation parties, and more – Call up a friend and see how they have been spending quarantine!
Get in the Kitchen
Fortunately a lot of restaurants are reopening for dining, but that
doesn’t mean you have to stop cooking! If you’re still not comfortable being in public, you can practice social distancing by ordering take-out or cooking up those recipes you have been dying to try. Dust off your old cookbooks, Google some new recipes or create your own concoction! Get your kids to join in the fun too. Sometimes we forget how much of a toll this unpredictable time is taking on our children so include them in new things too!
More Family Time
Speaking of the children, for many, this is the first time the whole family has been home together in awhile. Whether your older kids are home from college, you and your spouse are home from work at the same time, or your younger kids are on less playdates – get the whole family together for game nights, pool days or whatever else you and your family enjoy doing together!
Watch Movies
While the movies theaters are still closed, there are still many options when it comes to movie night! We all know there’s Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, Disney Plus etc., but when was the last time you were at a Drive-In? How about your kids? Drive-Ins are open and showing some of the classics, such as Footloose, Grease, and Dirty Dancing. Make it a family outing or date night and check out your local Drive-Ins.
Find a New Hobby
When was the last time you had the time to sit down and read a book, paint a picture or learn some new dance moves. Maybe you have pictures you want to turn into a Scrapbook or you’re thinking about building those cornhole boards you have always wanted. With online shopping and YouTube tutorials, your options are endless. Find a new hobby and who knows, you might come across something you love.
This time can be frustrating or overwhelming for some. Stay busy and keep practicing social distancing!
