Child Passenger Safety
Child Passenger Safety Awareness Week
September 23 – 29
Calling all parents, babysitters, nannies, older siblings and anyone responsible for driving around children!
Did you know…
- Almost half of child safety seats are not installed properly?
- The leading cause of death for children in the U.S. is from road injuries.Â
- Car seats save lives!Â
But how effective can they be if they’re installed wrong?Â
Car safety is very important, especially when it comes to children. This week is dedicated simply to the awareness of Child Passenger Safety! Too many times parents think they know what they’re doing when installing a car seat and too many times it’s not right! There is nothing wrong with reaching out for help – even if you just want to double check it’s right! This week is the perfect time to brush up on your knowledge of proper safety tactics and maybe even seek out a certified safety technician. Need help? Nine times out of ten, your local police or fire station will be able to assist you on a vehicle check to make sure your children are going to be properly secured in your car!Â
Random Knowledge – Car Seat Facts:
The first car seat was made available in 1962.Â
It wasn’t until 1971 that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration created federal standards for car seats.Â
Over 25 years later, Child Passenger Safety Technicians became available!Â
Spread the word and keep your kids safe!Â
