With summer right around the corner, you want to make sure your car is prepared for hot temperatures and long road trips. These tips on what to check will help you with just that.

Cabin Air Filters

Your cabin air filters catch airborne materials such as dust and pollen. It is one of those car functions that tend to be forgotten about. You want to keep your cabin air filters clean to improve the air quality and ensure maximum air flow.  Make sure your cabin air filters are checked and replaced if needed.

Wiper Blades

Visibility is a key component when it comes to safe driving. In case of a downpour or a dusty windshield from the pollen, you don’t want low visibility. If your wiper blades are cracked or damaged, you don’t want them scratching the glass. Make sure your wiper blades are in good condition. Check and replace them if needed.

Car Fluids

Your car’s fluids should be checked regularly. This includes taking your car in for an oil change and checking the windshield washer fluid. However, there are more fluids that tend to get forgotten about. Your radiator fluid keeps your engine from overheating, which is just what you want to check for the hot summer months. The transmission fluid is a lubricant that helps all the parts inside your transmission move smoothly. There is also brake fluid which is used to amplify the braking force to stop your car from moving when you step on the brakes. Power steering fluid and air conditioning coolant should also be checked. The majority of these fluids should be checked and replaced if needed at your {30/60/90K maintenance} visit.

Tires

To have the best control over your vehicle, you should have proper tire inflation. Make sure they have the right amount of tire pressure. To get the most use out of your tires, you should also make sure to get a tire rotation. The front tires tend to wear down quicker than the rear as there is more pressure when turning. Schedule a tire rotation or replace them if needed.
