2018 Mazda6 Earns IIHS Top Safety Pick Rating

The 2018 Mazda6 is showing the world that it’s more than just a handsome face and powerful powertrain – it’s also incredibly safe. This midsize sedan was recently named as an Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) Top Safety Pick when it’s equipped with the optional Adaptive Front-Lighting System.

To earn this title, the Mazda6 had to earn the highest rating of “Good” on the organization’s driver-side small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, roof strength, and head restraint tests.

When you purchase the base Mazda6 Sport trim level, you will automatically receive innovative driver-assistance technologies like Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert and a rearview camera. LED head- and taillights are also standard, along with Smart City Brake Support, which is a system that automatically applies the brakes in emergency situations if you’re travelling below 19 mph.

If you want even more state-of-the-art safety technologies, you can even choose to add the i-ACTIVSENSE package to your Mazda6. This automatically adds technology that includes:

• Smart Brake Support
• Lane Departure warning
• Mazda Radar Cruise Control
• Lane Keep Assist
• High Beam Control
• Automatic on/off headlights
• Rain-sensing windshield wipers

As you move up the trim levels, you will also find safety tech like auto-dimming interior and driver-side mirrors on the Grand Touring and an Active Driving Display with Traffic Sign Recognition, which displays all the information you need on the windshield in front of you and is available on the Grand Touring Reserve trim.
